Badminton Ireland - Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2020

In light of the restrictions imposed by our Government to combat the spread of Covid-19 throughout Ireland, we implemented several changes including directing our staff to work remotely, cancelling all our academy, development and training sessions and postponing or cancelling the remaining events on our Calendar. The restrictions have continued to increase week on week and last night saw the introduction of more substantial measures to combat the virus. The limits are due to stay in place until the 12th of April However we must all be aware that this virus sets the timeline and it is possible restrictions could remain in place beyond this date. We have also seen many national and international event, including the Olympic Games, due to take place between July and August, postponed.

The World Health Organisation has declared the Covid-19 virus a pandemic, and we all must do our part to help combat the spread of the virus and support our front line workers. Therefore the Board of Badminton Ireland has decided to postpone our Annual General Meeting (AGM) until the 22nd of August. This postponement is in line with Article 17 of our Constitution which states that “Not more than fifteen (15) months shall elapse between the date of one Annual General Meeting and that of the next”. Members should also note that the timeline set out under Articles 31.c to 31.f, will also change in line with the new AGM date.
We hope our members will appreciate the measures taken by the Board, given the circumstances. I would like to remind all our members that all our staff are still available should you have any questions or concerns. We will continue to monitor the ever-evolving situation and update our members accordingly.

Regards,
