Daniel Magee is a former Irish National Champion in Men’s Doubles and member of the winning Irish team at Sudirman Cup DV5 World Mixed Team Championships. In 2009 Daniel became the Irish Under 17 National Coach as well as Irish Assistant High-Performance Coach. Daniel was the team manager at the 2012 London Olympics and coach along with Tom Reidy at the 2015 European games where Ireland secured three bronze medals. He is currently the Education and Training Manager at Badminton Ireland and is responsible for the High-Performance department including budgetary control, personnel management, website and social media updates. As a BWF level-2 Tutor and a BWF level-2 Coach, Daniel, along with a number of Olympic coaches from other NGBs, was selected by Sport Ireland for their “Pursuit of Excellence” programme. He holds a Bachelor of Science Hons Degree in Geography.
Focused on developing skills for players and coaches, the Badminton Ireland Education and Training programmes are fundamental for the development and long-term sustainability of the game in Ireland. In addition to leading the skills programmes, Daniel leads the National Coaches at the Irish National Performance Centre and, working closely with the BI Academy lead coaches, Daniel also manages the BI Academy and Academy cells in Galway, Kildare, Clare, Tipperary, Dublin and the Marino Academy.
