Coaches Conference 2019 Ends but the Sharing of Knowledge Only Begins...

Coaches, players and members travelled from across the four provinces of Ireland to attend the 2019 annual Coaches Conference. This year’s conference saw a great mix of adults, juveniles, coaches and players with one of the biggest ever attendances. There were over 70 participants that attended over the course of the two days.

Over the weekend there were a number of highlights across a variety of exciting topics. A big thanks must go to all of the speakers/guests: Andy Stewart, Daniel Magee, Conor Fadian, Fiach Andrews, Nhat Nguyen and Fathurrahman Fauzi who shared some great insights both on and off the court as they challenged and inspired the members through the pieces they delivered.

Some of the sessions delivered included: Singles and Doubles Masterclasses, Physical Training for Badminton, Youth Development, On-Court Physical Sessions, Coach Mentoring, Teicnic Badminton, Development Updates and many more. It was great to see everyone getting involved and sharing knowledge with each other throughout the course of the weekend.

Participants were very active on-court and got to take part in some physical, tactical and technical exercises. In the classroom sessions, the coaches and players got the chance to ask some questions and get information that might then assist them back in their clubs or settings. Participants also got the chance to update their current Teicinic Badminton Level and experience some of the material in practice.

We would like to say a big thanks to everyone else who was working behind the scenes including Jade Plunkett, Lauren Au, Kim Feehily and Greg Farrell. The weekend couldn't have run as smoothly without their help.

We would lastly like to massive thanks to all of our members, coaches and players who attended and engaged really well throughout the Conference exchanging knowledge and ideas with each other during the sessions.

"Great weekend for getting some new ideas and information to bring back to the club for the upcoming season" - Graham MacMullen (Sligo City BC, Connacht).

"It was a fantastic weekend. The sessions were fun and engaging with a combination of both on-court and off-court activities" Patrick Marks (Roscrea BC, Munster).

"It was great to pick up some new exercises and practices to use in the club during the new season" - Jonathan Perry (Greenwell Street Presbyterian BC, Ulster)

"The weekend was super, it was great to be able to collaborate and make a connection with so many different coaches from around Ireland" - Sumesh Tharian (Mount Pleasant BC, Leinster).

We look forward to welcoming members back next year and wish everyone the best of luck in the new season!
