CEO January Statement

I am delighted to have been appointed the Chief Executive of Badminton Ireland.

Having had a lifetime of badminton within Ireland as a juvenile, International player, National Manager and Performance Director, the sport is very much a passion and close to my heart.

Those involved in Badminton Ireland at every level, whether it be staff, volunteers, coaches, administrators, parents or players are all enthusiasts and we want to see Badminton going from strength to strength.

In my brief time I have been impressed with the quality and work-load of our Badminton Ireland staff as we seek to improve the quality, communication and service to our members.

Of course not everything goes according to plan all of the time, but with the best of intentions and constantly listening to our members, we plan to lead the sport into the future.

Badminton is not just about performance and leagues.  Badminton Ireland have sizeable programmes in the following areas of work; Club Development, Coach Education, High Performance, Event organization and Member service, not to mention our e-shop.  Our 4 Provinces, Ulster, Munster, Leinster and Connacht play a vital role in the chain and I would like to thank them for their individual support.

I look forward meeting many of you in 2016.

Yours in badminton,

Michael Watt
