Coaching Register

Who is it for?

The coaches register is an active coach database which provides insurance cover to its members, and promotes these registered coaches to clubs, schools, and individuals who are looking to employ a coach. It is a necessity for all coaches undertaking paid coaching work. Note: Clubs, Schools etc will still be responsible for carrying out their own vetting procedures should they chose to employ someone on the register.

Benefits for Coaches:

Reduced cost or free access to Continuous Professional Development modules and Coaches Conference. Free access to Teicnic badminton programme. Opportunities to take paid work for Badminton Ireland, Local Sports Partnerships, Clubs, and Schools. Professional coaches insurance.

Insurance details:

Public liability up to 5 million euros. Professional indemnity up to 1 million euros which provides cover for coaches who are found to be negligent in their duty to participants and spectators and as a result of their negligence cause personal injury or property damage.

Criteria:

All coaches must have Garda vetting / Access NI, hold a BI Coach Level 1 qualification or higher, be affiliated to Badminton Ireland, and be committed to CPD. To remain on the coaching register coaches must gain at least 30 CPD credits per year to remain an active coach.

BI L1/2* In order to qualify for this, coaches must be working on a regular basis for a specific club or branch squad, and hold the coaching level qualification specified above.
FETAC Level 5/6/7* Points are awarded for each module most courses comprise of 7-10 modules. Example courses: FETAC Level 6 complete course can total 50 points: FETAC Level 6 component Certificate in Sports Nutrition, FETAC level 5 course: FETAC Level 5 component Certificate in Exercise and Fitness, FETAC level 7 course: Diploma/BSc in Exercise and Health Fitness.

BI Coach Level 1/2* Updating to the new level 1 carries 30 points, and L2 carries 50 points.

Full evidence of course completion will be required, and all points are reset on a yearly basis running from November 1st to November 1st. To verify and register your qualification or practical coaching hours contact: coaching@badmintonireland.com

Coaching register fees:
