BI Coach Level 1
Who is it for?
This is the second step on the coaching qualification ladder in Ireland. This qualification has been developed in a partnership between Badminton Ireland and Badminton World Federation and is therefore recognised world-wide. The course is designed for those people who are well motivated and have an existing level of basic badminton experience and knowledge who wish to begin coaching. The Level 1 award also allows you to be part of the Coaches register, a contiual professional development programme for coaches.
What does it qualify me to do?
The course provides coaches with the fundamental knowledge and skills to coach badminton. You will also be able to coach club badminton and the award is recognised within the BI Clubmark programme. Areas covered include; ‘what to coach’: technical, physical, tactical elements, and ‘how to coach’: coaching principles, coaching styles, coaching methodology, planning, and evaluation.
Delivery & resources:
The material for the course will be given to candidates in electronic format via memory stick. All materials are produced by Badminton Ireland and World Badminton Federation. Resources consist of the following: Coaches Manual (learners manual) divided into 12 modules – the main learning resources for trainee coaches; Video Clips – a comprehensive range of video clips demonstrating fundamental physical, technical and tactical elements of badminton which can be accessed below.
