BI Academy

The Badminton Ireland Academy (BI Academy) provides a coaching and training environment which supports the continuous improvement of Irish players. The Academy aims to help players develop physically and technically in order to achieve success on the European and International stage. The Academy also helps young talent to develop and thrive, and aims to produce Olympians of the future to follow in Scott Evans and Chloe Magee’s footsteps. The Academy is led by National Coach Dan Magee and a team of High Performance coaches.

Players will be accepted in to the Academy on individual merit. Over a twelve month period players will be expected to work towards meeting the following criteria to remain in the Academy (2 from 6 criteria are required):

  • Badminton Ireland National Champion (all age groups)
  • Badminton England U17 Gold Event Final or European Circuit u19 Event Medal
  • Branch Open Singles Winner (all age groups)
  • Achieve Badminton Ireland Academy fitness targets on monthly tests
  • Attend training 3+ times a week
  • Positive commitment and attitude in training based on the judgement of the Academy coaching team

The Badminton Ireland Academy is open to all Badminton Ireland members that are committed to maximising their game. Please submit your application forms via email or post today avoid disappointment. Spaces will be limited due to court availability.

BI Academy Cells


Badminton Ireland Academy Cells are twice-weekly training sessions held across Ireland. The aim of these cells is to encourage players to improve themselves and take their skills to the next level, feeding into the BI Academy system

BI Academy Cells extend the quality coaching and training environment and bring it to a wider pool of players. It offers players a high coach-to-player ratio, quality facilities and access to the Badminton Ireland High Performance Coaching team.
