In what has been a solid period of Badminton for Scott Evans the Irish number one had to settle for Silver in the 2014 Bulgaria Open. The Irish number one has really shown some great form of late including a recent gold in the Brazil Grand Prix. Evans brought his confidence from this win into this event as he beat a number of top Challenge level contenders including Denmark’s Rasmus Fladberg in the Semi Final.
In the Final it was a tough task as he faced German number one Marc Zwiebler who has been in the World’s top ten. The German took the match in two games but Evans will have a lot to take away from the event as his results have been much more consistent in this period with another medal to add to his collection.
The Irish number one has a number of events coming up including the European Mixed Team qualification event in Baldoyle Badminton Center Dublin from the 7th to the 9th of November. All spectators are welcome to come to the tournament to support the Irish as they hope to win their group against Norway, Slovakia and a tough Bulgarian side.
