There were many eyes fixed on the finals day at the 2018 AIG FZ Forza open this last weekend in Dublin with Sam Magee and Chloe Magee winning the mixed final. Meanwhile, at Gloucester Badminton Ireland Talent group player Matthew Cheung was on his own mission.
Matthew took two medals in the Gold Star event, winning the boys singles event and taking runners up in the boys doubles event with his partner Jeremy George. Matthew played an impressive eleven matches in reaching both finals. Matthew went into this event unseeded and beat the number two and three seeds on his way to the final. In the final Mathew beat number one seed Oliver Butler in three hard fought games 15-21 21-15 23-21. For a full list of Matthews results from the weekend click here
