Nhat Nguyen finishes his time in Buenos Aires with a strong performance in the quarterfinal

Nhat Nguyen has made a great start in the Youth Olympic Games men’s singles event after winning his opening three games read more.......

 

 

 

The Irish number one started his tournament with a 21-11 21-6 victory over Kettiya Keoxay of Laos. Today Nguyen followed this up with another dominant 21-8 21-5 win over Mateo Delmastro who was representing the host country Argentina. Nhat will have one more match in his group tomorrow where he will face Uriel Francisco Canjura Artiga of El Salvador. Francisco has also won his opening game and so the winner of tomorrow’s match will top group C and book a place in the quarterfinals.

Nhat beat Uriel Francisco Canjura Artiga of El Salvador to group C and progress to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinal Nhat played the number one Chinese under 19 player Shifeng Li of China. Nhat played some of his best ever badminton to win the opening game 21-15 before losing the next the two games 19-21 19-21 after one and a half hours of play. Shifeng Li went on to take the gold medal in this event whch demonstrated the level Nhat had played to take the match to such a close scoreline.
