Ireland create upset on day two of European Junior championships

Adam McAllister and Rachael Woods took a thrilling three game victory over the number four seeds from Holland. It took the Irish some time to settle into the match with the Dutch pairing of Gijs Duijs and Linders dominating the early part of the match.The Irish then came out strong to control the second before going on to win a very evenly balanced deciding game.

Nhat Nguyen started his European Championship campaign with another comprehensive victory beating Stanislav Zlankov of Bulgaria. It took the Irish number one only 18 minutes to see of his opponent.

"It was a great start for the players on day two of the competition. I hope the rest of our team will take great confidence from these results and can continue with this momentum in their upcoming matches" Irish U19 coach Daniel Magee
