Exciting line up for the Badminton Ireland member’s forum organised for August 11th and 12th read more…..

Following on from the successful member’s forum in 2017 the dates for the 2018 conference are now confirmed. The event will run on August 11th and 12th and will cater for all our members. The sessions will provide opportunities for both coaches and both Juvenile and adult players to develop new skills and exchange knowledge.

The 2018 conference has a number of new ideas included from the feedback given at last year’s conference. These new ideas along with the speakers at this year’s conference, should lead to a very exciting weekend of badminton. At this year’s conference we will have

Irish National Coach John Quinn

  • Former GB coach
  • Scottish Badminton national coaching team
  • French Badminton national coaching team

John has had great experience working in World class badminton systems. John will lead a number of on-court sessions where he will challenge coaches and put the players through their paces. This will be a great opportunity for all members, both juvenile and adult to get to meet our national coach and get to understand his badminton philosophy.

Three Time Olympian Chloe Magee

We are looking forward to welcoming our treble Olympian Chloe Magee to this year’s conference. Chloe is going to share her experience of growing up in Donegal and moving to Sweden to pursue a full-time career in Badminton. Chloe had some great experiences along the way, picking up medals at the 2015 European games and becoming the first ever Irish winner of a European medal along with her brother Sam in 2017. This will be a great insight for juvenile, adult players and coaches on what it takes to compete from Grass roots in a small county setup to the highest platform on the World stage. This is a session not to be missed.

UKCC level 2 coach Andy Stewart

Badminton Ireland is delighted to welcome back Andy Stewart for the 2018 conference. Andy Stewart has great knowledge on badminton topics and again will look to challenge coaches and players to exchange knowledge throughout the two day conference. In addition to his classroom topics, Andy will be leading the Boost your Teicnic session and will be delivering a “Conditioned games session” based on the feedback received from the previous conference. For all that know Andy be prepared to test your badminton knowledge as he challenges you to think outside the box on various aspects of what makes a complete player.

Badminton Ireland Tutor Tony Robinson

Tony Robinson is one of Badminton Ireland’s most experienced Tutors. Tony is going to talk about coach education, the pathway you can take on moving from player to coach to Tutor. This will be a great opportunity for participants who are interested in both coaching and Tutor opportunities.

Badminton Ireland Development officer Fiach Andrews

Fiach will be talking around some ideas he has in his current role and will also look to get information from all that attend the conference. This will be a great opportunity for our members to get to know Fiach and to discuss how we the badminton community can continue to develop badminton across Ireland.

Badminton Ireland Education and Training manager Daniel Magee

This will be the third year that Daniel Magee has the led the coaching conference. Daniel will be there for the two days to help exchange knowledge with all the members who attend. Daniel has been on the Irish sports council Pursuit of excellence programme from 2012-2016 alongside Irelands top coaches across a number of sports including Boxing, Diving, Tennis, Athletics, Horse Sports, Paralympics to name a few. Daniel also leads the coach education programme and will be able to share his experience with the participants involved.

“I am excited to attend this year’s conference and I feel we have an excellent line up this year again. I would encourage all our members both adult and juvenile, coach and player to come along for the weekend. These types of weekends are invaluable for exchanging knowledge and building badminton connections” (Badminton Ireland Education and Training manager Daniel Magee)

One more guest speaker to be confirmed…………..

We hope to have one other guest speaker but we cannot confirm this until a little closer to the conference due to their busy schedule. So keep your eyes posted on the website for further updates on this.
