Golden Opportunity for Ireland

The FZ U19 Irish Open enters the final day of competition and Ireland has two opportunities to win Gold. Number one seeds Nhat Nguyen and Paul Reynolds have a chance at Gold in the Men's doubles. They will face off against the number two seeds Matthew and Christopher Grimley from Scotland. Both teams have looked very impressive throughout the tournament. Nhat and Paul produced a very convincing performance in yesterday's semi-final win against number four seeds Lewington/Pringle (21-13,21-11). This game is second on court and play is expected to start around 10.40am.

Ireland's second chance at Gold comes in the final game of the competition. Nhat Nguyen will play his second final of the day against number three seed Julien Carraggi from Belgium. Julien produced an excellent performance in the semi-finals to upset the number two seed Christopher Grimley in three games (21-15,16-21,21-16). In the other semi-final, Nhat and Matthew Grimley produced a compelling match with both players pulling off brilliant saves and showing off their skills. Nhat was able to power past the excellent play of Matthew in two games (21-13, 21-10).
