Badminton Ireland KCell Now Enrolling For 2017/2018 Season

Over the past two years KCELL BADMINTON ACADEMY has been central in the nurturing of emerging badminton talent across the greater Kildare area as part of Badminton Ireland’s academy cell structure.

The academy is now heading into its third year at its base in Kilcullen Sports Centre, just off the M9 motorway in County Kildare. The hall is a 4-court set up with unlimited free parking within striking distance of Kildare and its surrounding counties. KCELL is committed to offering top quality coaching to players from beginner right up to elite juniors with all sessions designed to fit in around club and county commitments.

Affordability is also a key driving force behind the academy. 2 hourly sessions cost just €15.00 per child with opportunities for every child to get a taste and fit into a high level training centre and avail of coaching from Badminton Ireland qualified/licenced coaches.

KCELL is delighted to add BWF Level 2 and current U17 National Coach (next year’s U19 National Coach) Aisling Ryan to the coaching team this year alongside Moya Ryan who has graduated into senior ranks after a spell as Irish number one during her junior years. Joshua Magee and his by now famous frog jumps will also pop in when his schedule allows and the word on the street is we might just see Joshua a bit more this coming term. Alongside existing coaches Craig McCourtney and Jennie Magee all academy students are assured of high level attention.

Speaking of the coaching additions cell director Mark Phelan was delighted with the addition of the Ryan sisters “Both the Ryan sister will bring a fresh impetus to KCELL and the girls will slot in alongside our existing coaches as we look to broaden our horizons and inject some new ideas. I have worked with Aishling this past year at national U17 level and she is one of the most professional people I know. Moya comes into the setup with younger eyes fresh from her national and international U19 duties and a good iPod playlist coupled with her talent is sure to be a hit with all our children.”

After a short summer break KCELL is now enrolling for the 2017/18 season. If you or your child is interested in joining KCELL just email Mark at for details. Places as always are limited and filled on a first come first served basis.
