Sam and Chloe Magee Win Spanish International 2017

Sam and Chloe Magee have won the Spanish International 2017 after overcoming a tough draw with some tricky foreign opposition. In their quarterfinal match, they beat the strong Japanese pair of Matsuyama/Matsui 21-15 21-19 under the tough heat conditions that the Spanish tournament is known for.
They beat the number 3 seeds in the semi-final who they have had many difficult matches with in the past. The score against Labar Fontaine of France was 21-17 23-21. Sam and Chloe held their form well to stop the match going to three games at the end of the second.
In the final, they came up against Tabeling/Seinen of the Netherlands who beat some strong pairs and had some close matches to reach the finals. The Irish duo was on fire and came through the final winning 21-11 21-18. This is a really important win for the Magee's to top up on their huge success at the European Championships, "Seven years ago we won our first ever international title here, so it always brings great memories playing in Madrid." - Sam Magee.
