Job Description

With the London 2012 Olympic Games just around the corner Badminton Ireland are delighted to announce a six to twelve month sport internship (unsalaried). This is an exciting opportunity to work within a vibrant sporting organisation with an Olympic focus. Our Internship scheme provides an excellent opportunity for graduates wising to pursue a career within Sporting domain to gain valuable work experience in a challenging and rewarding Olympic sporting environment, providing a great stepping stone!

Badminton Ireland works with its stakeholders across the Country to increase participation, improve the quality of the sporting experience for participants and widen the pool of sporting talent. We provide our partners with advice, expertise, funding and advocacy support to achieve these shared aims.
Our partners include the Branches, local authorities, School Sport Networks, leisure facility providers, FE and HE institutions and sports clubs.

Potential interns will:
Assist in setting up events and activities
Assist in planning logistics of executing activities across all departments
Create an impact across our online and social media platforms (FaceBook, Twitter, YouTube, Blog, etc)
Assist in interviewing/blogging
Take photos and videos
Other duties as assigned

To join the team you will need to be self-motivated and enthusiastic, you will be able to apply yourself to a range of different work areas and produce a high standard of written work. It would be preferable if you had experience in Communications, Web Design, Journalism or related business degrees preferred
Experience or interest in online activities such as web site administration, email campaigns or online advertising.
Experience with MS Office
Experience in CRM, web content management systems, web admin tools, email campaigns
Desire to work collaboratively with colleagues
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience working with sales and marketing

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 10kgs. Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required.

In return you will gain valuable practical experience in a range of different sports administration areas
including, sports administration, media, management of coaches, delivery of sports programmes, organising events and training.

The exact dynamic of the sporting internship with Badminton Ireland is unpredictable and unfortunately no estimations can be made as to the number/type of placements, as positions are created in accordance with current business needs and can therefore occur in any department at any time throughout the year.
Whilst completing your please feel free to select the business departments that interest you the most, but please be aware business needs will always take precedence, therefore you are not guaranteed a role in your desired department.
