Amsterdam in Holland is the location that will set the scene for the ever exciting European men’s and Women’s team Championships held from the 14th to the 19th of February 2012.

In the men’s competition Ireland were drawn in a group of three with Germany and Israel. Germany is the seeded team in the group and field a very impressive line up with strength the whole way through there squad. This will prove to be a good challenge for the Irish men. Scott Evans Irish number one men’s singles player will lead the Irish men’s challenge in this team event, and if the event itself was not enough of incentive the vital Olympic Qualifying points up for grab will ensure that all involved will be at their very best in this competition. The Men selected to represent Ireland are Scott Evans, Sam Magee, Tony Stephenson and Niall Tierney.

In the ladies event Ireland were drawn in a Group with Russia, Slovenia and Slovakia. Russia is the seeded team in this Group and one of the favourites for the overall title. The Irish ladies will be led into battle by Irish number one Chloe Magee who has been in a run of good form this season including a recent final in the Norwegian International Challenge event. This group will be very competitive and the Irish players are preparing for some tough matches that lie ahead. The Women selected to represent Ireland are Chloe Magee, Sinead chambers, Jennie King and Alannah Stephenson.

The draw was published on the 19th of December. Irish National Coach Daniel Magee commented on the draws saying “This will be a good test for both of our teams, we will prepare hard for these Championships and even though we are not seeded in either men’s or ladies event we will fight in every game to get the best result we can”.
