Friday evening at the Irish Open saw Sam and Chloe Magee score a trio of important victories.

In Women’s singles Chloe Magee reached the quarter final with a three set victory over Dutch No2 and Scottish Open winner Judith Meulendijks. A great win for Chloe which virtually guarantees her London 2012 Olympic place still with five and a half months in the qualifying period to go. Tomorrow Chloe plays nationalised French player Pi Hongyan the tournament top seed and former World No1.

In men’s doubles Sam Magee along with Danish partner Mikkel Elbjorn reached the quarter final with a thee set victory over a top Taiwan pair. Tomorrow Sam and Mikkel are up against the top seeds Cawlina and Logoz from Poland.

In the mixed doubles top seeds Sam and Chloe Magee beat French opponents in three sets in their quest for another Badminton Europe title and face tough Danish opponents in Helsbol and Bonde in tomorrow’s quarter final.

A great day for Irish badminton and an exciting line up of play tomorrow with Irish interest remaining in three events.
