After settling into the hotel we had a practice session that evening before the start of the team matches early on Friday morning.

First up was Ireland v Scotland and this proved a tough assignment with Ireland losing 8-1, Alannah Stephenson being the sole victor in this match.

After a couple of team changes, Ireland faced Wales in the afternoon and with the tie balanced at 4-4, it came down to the mixed partnership of Ryan Stewart/Fionnuala McCourt to claim the match and win the tie 5-4.  Great team performances by all.

On Saturday morning came the much anticipated tie against England.   Every player gave of their very best but England took the tie 7-2.  Danny Keown/Conor Scanlon and Alannah Stephenson/Keady Smith being the victors in  this match.

Final placings were England 1^st, Scotland 2^nd, Ireland 3^rd and Wales 4^th.

After lunch the Boys and Girls doubles began. Nicholas Murphy was teamed with one of the English players, Sean Vendy and they reached the semi final stages of the boys event.

Following this came the mixed doubles where Ryan Stewart/Alannah Stephenson reached and won the final – excellent play from the Irish pair.

The singles began early on the Sunday morning where all players gave very credible performances.

We returned to Dublin at 10.30pm on Sunday evening after a very enjoyable and successful weekend.
