High Performance Camp

Chloe, Sam, Scott, TonyJune saw the introduction of a pilot High Performance Camp run in Baldoyle BC. This saw the roll out of a four day programme set out for the players by the coaches in liaison with the Institute of Sport.

The players were put through their paces for the full 4 days including work in the following areas:
  • Physiology Testing
  • Strength and Conditioning
  • Technical Court Work
  • Personal Management
  • Nutrition Workshops

There was also work conducted around personal planning, tournament and training plans and prioritisation. Coupled with all of this work there was also the opportunity for the players to avail of the facilities at the National Aquatic Centre for an active rest and recovery session.

Badminton Ireland were also pleased to have Mats Mejdevi, of Sports Basics in Denmark, a Strength and Conditioning Specialist at the camp to impart his badminton specific knowledge to the players and coaches involved. His experience with some of the top players in the world in this area is likely to have a dramatic positive impact on the systems we have in place here in our programmes in Ireland.

All taking part will be completing a survey to benefit future camps.

Badminton Ireland would like to thank Ken Lynch in particular for his tremendous work in organising everything in relation to this pilot. The camp was extremely successful and it is hoped to hold a further camp in 6 months time, some elements of which will be open to other coaches and players.
