A summary of the main highlights during the 2009/2010 season....
Limerick
MARY IMMACULATE COLLEGE have set up a club from the amount of student Teachers that have taken part in Introductory courses. Which the College ran
2 courses each year for the past three years CROOM is another new club starting up. this is due to the help from the Limerick L.S.P.
They are a group of players who would like to play League Badminton next season LPYMA is a juvenile Club that is set up in centre of limerick The club was set up by jenny O Leary, who i played badminton with 20 years ago in Galway
3 of the ladies helping Jenny have just done an Introductory coaching course in Clonlara
Mayo
BALLYHAUNIS badminton club Hav gone from strength to strength due to funding from Mayo L.S.P.
They sent a member to a level 1 coaching course in Galway They had a coach to work with their adult and Juvenile club for 8 weeks they now have 76 membersfrom 56 last year Claremorris badminton club is another new club with 17 members, 12 last year CEMLIN is a new Club this year with 14 members Willie Murphy helped set up this club, having played badminton himself in the past CROSSMOLINA is another Club set up last yearwith 54 members, 37 members Last year I have visited the Club twice thes year to give help and ideas to aileen and John Also to set up an Adult club GLENHEST Badminton club This another new club with 41 members This club came about with nthe help from Mayo L.S.P I had two club visits to meet with the Adults in charge
Tipperary
LOUGHMORE Badminton Club is a new Club set up to play social badminton They have 10 members at present, I am looking to grow numbers and maybe play League badminton next season GOLDEN Badminton Club is another new Club that was set up in South Tipperary Kieran O Brien was the man with the contacts for the club Kieran is very Proactive within Tipperary, Without his help i would fine it a lot harder to do my Job as Development Officer
Galway
ELLIS and CLADDAGHDUFF are two new clubs for this year Paul Gannon is the driving force behind badminton in west Galway I have visited the clubs a number of times From this i ran an Introductory course in Galway for the Two Clubs Four player from each club attended After the course a Juvenile club was set up from the two clubs CONOMARA THIAR JUNIOR which is going well and looking to run a summer camp ATHENRY is anothe new club in galway. This club has come about by the work done by Adrian Furey. I had a meeting with Adrian furey 4 years ago when he was County Chairman There was 12 clubs in Galway at the time, his vision was to grow the numbers of clubs in Galway There is now 24 clubs. Adrian is now chairman of the Connacht Branch and his views are the same for Connacht. More people like this Positive and Proactive are needed all over.
Clare
MILTOWN MALBAY is a new Adult Club in Clare which started due to a strong Juvenile Club
4 of the members have done an introductory coaching course KILMIHIL is another new Club in west Clare. This Club started with the help of the Clare L.S.P.
I had two visits to the Club to help with club nights and to look at them with a view to playing League This is the first year in a long time that there was a west and east Clare League CRATLOE is another new club who are looking to play league in both Adult and juvenile Leeagues This Club was set up by Players who attended an Introductory course in Limerick Clare won all age groups in Munster
