Scott Evans was our sole representative in the All England Championships currently taking place in Birmingham.

National High Performance Coach Jim Laugesen reports:-

" Scott had a tough draw facing Rajiv Ouseph of England in the opening game. He has never defeated Ouseph before however he applied himself superbly to the job and eventually won through 17-21, 21-9, 21-19. He was fit, strong and focused and again showed his ability to cope with big halls and the special demands that this places on players in terms of drift and shuttle speed.

He faced Anand Pawar of India after this and was unable to rquite each the standards achieved against Ouseph. Scott has beaten Pawar before but ultimately he needed just a bit more in the way of fitness and strategy to see him through. Pawar played a clever game and defeated Scott 21-6, 20-22, 21-12. Overall nothing is easy in Super Series and Scott is touching on breaking through into the World class level which is all about consistency in all areas.

Scott has an excellent dedication to training and a positive mental attitude and it is only a matter of time until the breakthrough is made.

Next stop Switzerland and another Super Series!"
