    U19 Irish Open

    Women’s Singles

Unsurprisingly, first seed, Vivien Sandorhazi, from Hungary, had been effortlessly moving through the tournament, two games per match. But the quarter final proved a little challenging, taking three games to win against Dounia Pelupessy (6 Seed), from Switzerland. She past the semi-finals with ease and will be going up against Pamela Reyes (England) in the final.

    Men’s Singles

First Seed, Axel Henrik Parkhoi, from Denmark, progressed swiftly through the tournament, beating Gabriel Rodrigues (6) (France) in the quarterfinals. In the semi-finals he faced off against Ivan Kovacevic from France, winning two consecutive games. 3rd Seed, Yanis Gaudin (France), is another player to look out for. In the semi-finals, he beat English player and 7th Seed, Sid Palakaal after three games. Tomorrow, Parkhoi and Palakaal will face each other in the finals.

    Mixed Doubles

Rachael Woods & her partner Yann Orteu from Sweden (4th Seeds), made it to the semi-finals against 1st Seeds Zhi Hao YAP & Abbygael Harris (England).

The semi-finals also included another English pair, William Jones & Asmita Chaudhari (2 Seed), who came up against the Netherlands, Wessel Van Der Aar & Kelly Van Buiten (3 Seed).

    Women’s Doubles

In the semi-finals for the WD, we saw three pairs of Irish players trying to make it to the final. Irish sisters Rachael &Rebecca Woods have progressed through without hesitation and won against Kim Feehily & Alexandra Troy after a tough three games.

Pamela Pontanosa & Orla Flynn came up against 1st Seed Switzerland players, Dounia Pelupessy & Milena Schnider.

    Men’s Doubles

The MD Semi-finals saw great games with fantastic play. Brandon Adams & Matthew Bickerton (England) lost against 4 Seeds, Finn Achthoven, & Wessel Van Der Aar (Netherlands). Swedish players and 3rd Seeds, Yann Orteu & Minh Quang Pham lost to 2nd Seed English players, William Jones & Brandon Zhi Hao Yap.

    U15 Irish Open

Dylan Noble, first seed in both BS and BD has thrived in the competition so far, starting his day off by winning mixed doubles with his partner Paige Woods against Viktor Platteet & Tammi Van Wonterghem (Belgium). The Boy’s Singles did not prove a challenge for Noble as he progressed swiftly through his matches. In the quarter finals he beat Thomas Mabbe from Belgium, and will go to the semi final against another Irish player, 3/4 seed Senan O’Rourke.

Both O’Rourke and Noble have played exceptionally well throughout the U15 Irish Open, making it to the BD semi-finals. Noble plays alongside Eoghan Cooney as 1st seeds, while O’Rourke plays with Fionn Downey, 2nd seeds.

Siofra Flynn, first seed in three events, XD, GS & GD, did extremely well with her mixed doubles partner Eoghan Cooney, winning their match in the first round. Siofra had an unfortunate loss in her GS game against Amber Boonen from Belgium, who’s had a great run, progressing to the semi-finals, against Ishbel McCallister (Sweden). Irish player and 2nd Seed, Michelle Schochan has also advanced to the semis after beating Tammi Van Wonterghem (Belgium) and will be playing another Swedish player and 3/4 Seed, Katrina Chan.

For the GD, Siofra Flynn & Paige Woods will be up against Nicole Joy & Rachel O’Flynn, while Laura Heery & Zarah Pender will play Swedish players, Katrina Chan & Ishbel McCallister.
